QSCP Promising Scientist Prize of CMOA


A QSCP Promising Scientist Prize of CMOA will be awarded at QSCP-XIII. For eligibility and details of the application and nomination procedure, please see www.lcpmr.upmc.fr/prize.html. Nominations can be submitted by e-mail to Chair of the Local Organizing Committee for QSCP-XIII, Piotr Piecuch (   ), with a copy sent to Jean Maruani, President of CMOA (   ). The deadline for submitting applications and nominations is May 31, 2008 (extended to June 20, 2008). Selection of the awardee(s) will be made jointly by the International Scientific Committee and faculty members of the Local Organizing Committee for QSCP-XIII. The prize will be awarded during QSCP-XIII at Michigan State University (July 6-12, 2008).

AWARD UPDATE:
Several candidates for the QSCP Promising Scientist Prize of CMOA were considered. Of these, five award nominees were selected. Three nominees received the prize, while the other two received a certificate of nomination. The first QSCP Promising Scientist Prize of CMOA, accompanied by a diploma and the award of 1000 USD, was presented to Professor Garnet K.-L. Chan from Cornell University, USA. The second QSCP Promising Scientist Prize of CMOA was shared by Professor David A. Mazziotti from the University of Chicago, USA and Dr. Ágnes Szabados from Eötvös University, Hungary. Each recipient of the second prize received a diploma and the award of 500 USD. The remaining two selected nominees, Professor T. Daniel Crawford from Virginia Tech, USA and Dr. Stéphane Carniato from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI), France, each received a gift in addition to a certificate of nomination. The nominees were announced and the prizes were awarded at the QSCP-XIII banquet ceremony on July 10, 2008 in Lansing, Michigan, USA.
