Current & Past Targets

As our methods and mechanism studies advance, we look to apply these reactions in the theater of natural product synthesis.  Some of our current and past synthetic targets are shown below:

While some synthetic targets provide us an opportunity to test our synthetic methods, others also allow us to address biological hypotheses.  For example, we are interested in the chemistry and biology of the platelet activating factor antagonist phomactin A and its analogs.  The phomactins may be useful against a variety of cardiovascular disorders.  Similarly, in an effort to use chemical communication to control Great Lakes sea lamprey populations we are striving to establish an efficient synthesis of various sex pheromones of the sea lamprey.
