National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers

NOBCChE is committed to the discovery, transmittal, and application of knowledge in the fields of science and engineering. The mission of NOBCChE therefore is to build an eminent community of scientists and engineers by increasing the number of minorities in these fields.

All general body meetings are held on every other Monday at 6pm in Chittenden Hall.

Meet the Executive Board

Advisor: Steven Thomas

Degrees: BSE in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Organic Chemistry

Experience: research, technical writing, natural product chemistry, project management, and science education. I have worked in the US and overseas for both industrial and academic employers

President: Duke Augustin

Major: Human Development Family Studies minoring in Global Public Health and Epidemiology and Health Promotions

Aspiration: To attend Graduate School to study Epidemiology

What has being apart of NOBCChE done for you? I have gotten research experience and leadership experience over the last 2 years

Vice President: Kenyetta Smith

Major: Chemistry

Aspiration: To work in the research and development lab of a major company.

What has being apart of NOBCChE done for you? I’ve gained valuable research experience and learned how to convey my research to a wide range of people.

Treasurer: Chris Rhoades

Major: Human Biology minoring in Pharmocology and Toxicology

Aspiration: To attend medical school and achieve an MD/Ph.D

What has being apart of NOBCChE done for you? Expanded my network, Summer Internship Opportunities and 3 years of laboratory research.

Secretary: Tia Lee Fowlkes

Major: Computer Science

Aspiration: To tell my parents they can retire.

RSO Liason: Dan Babayode

Major: Chemistry

Aspiration: Make a difference in urban communities by promoting STEM Education

Public Relations Chair: Nick Reeves

Major: Marketing

Aspiration: Earn a Master's degree in Art Administration and own a record label.
