Reactions of Aldehydes and Ketones

Organic chemical reactions generally have three components: Reactants, Reagents & Products.

In this problem we shall consider three isomeric carbonyl reactants:
3-methyl-2-butanone   3-methylbutanal  3-pentanone

These compounds may be reacted with six different reagents:
Jones' reagent
CrO3 in H3O(+)
C6H5MgBr
in ether, followed by H3O(+)
excess C2H5OH
Acid catalyst, heat (–H2O)
NaBH4
in CH3OH
(CH2)5NH
piperidine, acid, heat (–H2O)
N2H4, KOH
heat (–H2O)

From the following menu you may select the feature to be examined:

You may review the chemistry of aldehydes and ketones before proceeding.
