Reactions of Alkenes
Organic chemical reactions generally have three components: Reactants, Reagents & Products.
In this problem we shall consider three isomeric alkene reactants:
|
3-methyl-1-butene | | 2-methyl-2-butene | | 2-methyl-1-butene |
|---|
|
These compounds may be reacted with eight different reagents:
| HCl | | Br2 | | HOBr | | Hg(OAc)2 (aq. mercuric acetate) |
| NaBH4 | | B2H6 (BH3 in ether) | | H2O2 (in aq. NaOH) | | KMnO4 (in water) |
|---|
