POWDER DIFFRACTION
RESEARCH IN CENTER
COVID-19 Phase I
June 2020

Instrumentation will be up and running.

Face mask (or shield), gloves, and goggles required.

Requirements:

  • Fill out form when entering and exiting Chemistry Building.
  • No food in building.
  • Only one person in the elevator at a time. Take stairs and use social distance practices.
  • Face mask (or shield) and goggles required in all areas of the building at all times.

All persons entering the facility must be trained on the following new precautions.

  1. Only one person allowed to enter the lab at any given time.
    1. Submission for use of Powder Diffractometer will be via the Calendar program and
    2. Following rules for Room Chemistry 482.
  2. Person operating or running instrument will have first priority for lab access.
    1. Instrument use is one person only at any given time. Absolutley no sharing.
    2. Gloves will be worn while handling chemical and sample preparation, not when operating instrument.
    3. User will ensure that that the instrument, keyboard, mouse, and common touched areas are all thoroughly wiped down.
  3. After data collection begins, laboratory access limited to only those persons that need to be in the lab.

Violation of any of these procedures or any other regulations issued by MSU, College of Natural Science and the Department of Chemistry will result in loss of the ability to use the resources of the Center in addition to any disciplinary actions governed by any other applicable department.
