Personal Information
1999 was our 10th consecutive DALMAC tour from Lansing to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan over the Mackinac Bridge during the Labor Day weekend (and Bob's 5th and my 12th year on the DALMAC Crew which makes the tour happen). This bicycling/camping tour covers 340-400 miles in four or five days (five days are more fun!) through the small towns and back roads up the center of Michigan. In 1996 we capped the tour by canoeing with a friend out into Lake Michigan, visiting five small uninhabited islands before returning to Lansing. In 1998 and 1999 I assembled a VHF/UHF amateur radio station on the Opus III and spoke with other hams several times each day while we were riding on the DALMAC tour. We continue to be on the Crew, but rather than riding our bike we have been working on the ride (2000 we drove a baggage truck; 2001 I drove a baggage truck alone; 2002 and 2003 I drove a SAG wagon alone; and 2004 we drove a SAG wagon; and I again plan to drive a SAG wagon in 2005).
