Postdoctoral Scholars

Dr. Jai Prakash
I have joined the Poltavets group in August, 2011. Currently I am involved in the exploratory synthesis of novel materials for battery, thermoelectric and superconducting applications.

I did my PhD in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi under the supervision of Prof. Ashok K Ganguli.

Dr. Jahangeer Ahmed
Hey myself is Dr. Jahangeer Ahmed and recently I have joined the research group of Dr. Poltavets (April 2011). I will be involved in several projects like battery materials, dye sensitized solar cells, nanochemistry etc.

I have done my Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi under the supervision of Professor Ashok K. Ganguli in 2011.
Graduate Students

Shannon Kraemer
Undergraduate Institution: The University of Toledo
Undergraduate Research Advisor:  Prof. Cora Lind

I joined the Poltavets lab in Fall of 2012. I am currently working on developing new methods for synthesizing thermoelectric materials along with making new thermoelectric materials. I received a B.S. in Chemistry from The University of Toledo in 2011.

Hamed Hajibabaei Najafabadi

Joshua Davis
I joined the Poltavets Group in December 2011.  I recently graduated from Grand Valley State University with a B.S. in Chemistry in the Winter of 2011.  While in undergrad, I briefly worked with organometallics, but since then I have switch gears. Currently, I am working on learning to predict the structure and properties of battery and strongly correlated electron materials with the aid of DFT calculations.
     Colin Blakely
I am currently developing new techniques for manipulating the perovskite structure via removal and replacement of choice atoms to change the properties of the material.

I received a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.S. in Computer Science from Michigan State University in 2009.
    Shaun Bruno
Hey my name is Shaun, I joined the Poltavets lab in Fall of 2009. I will be doing research on a few projects with goals of making new battery materials and compounds using the hydrothermal method and the ceramic method and analysis using X-Ray Diffraction. I will also be working on making new thermoelectric materials.

I received the Outstanding Student Award in Chemistry from the ACS in 2007. I graduated from Michigan State University with my B.S. in Chemistry in the spring of 2009.
