Mesh Plot of Total Electron Density at 2.32 Bohr

The above is a visualization of molecular oxygen at its equilibrium bond distance of 2.32 bohr. The blue colors at the edge represent the area of lowest density and the red colors toward the nuclei represent the area of highest density. Notice that most of the electron density is near the nuclei. This is to be expected since the electrons will be attracted by the nuclei. Also, observe the nodes from the 2s electrons. The colorization fades to white as the density approaches zero.
