Our Synthetic Labs are located in
rooms 428 and 429 in the Chemistry Building. In these rooms we have:
|
|
|
Dry
Boxes: Enclosures filled
with inert atmospheres for the preparation and study of air-sensitive
compounds. The group has two dry boxes. A large drybox with room for
two people to work side by side, and a small drybox outfitted with a
fiber optic UV/Vis spectrometer and an electrochemistry setup. |
|
|
Fume Hoods: Our lab has 10 fume
hoods in total. Eight of these are used for synthetic work and are
outfitted with Schlenk lines. Of the two remaining hoods, one holds the
High Vacuum line which is used to maintain the cryostat, while the
other is a large hood which houses the solvent stills. |
