All:

Effective July 1st 2009 the 900 Mhz NMR Facility will be operated as a component of the long standing Max T. Rodgers NMR Facility and managed by the Department of Chemistry. This consolidation of the two NMR facilities optimizes maintenance and operations of the 900 MHz while maintaining full access to this valuable research instrument for all researchers both on and off campus. The consolidation of all NMR analyses to a single research support unit should also facilitate future grant applications for new equipment, upgrades and support of NMR research at MSU.

NMR Artifacts page (03-03-08) New webpage for identifying NMR Arifacts and finding their resolution. This is for use in helping you to resolve common problems found in acquiring and processing NMR data. Click here to see the page.

NMR Move (12/21/07): The undergraduate NMR room and all its Spectrometers (Khufu, Maat, and Imseti) is now room 125. The instruments and magnets have been moved and are ready for use.

New Probe (05/07/07): The previous probe for the UnityPlus-300 on the 2nd floor, west wall (Maat), was damaged and will not be repaired. The X-nucleus coil was completely smashed. This was most likely a result of wear-and-tear over many years of service. We have installed a Quad nucleus probe in its place. This probe will allow for simple 1H, 19F, 31P, and 13C acquisitions with no tuning. No other nucleus will be available for this spectrometer.

Macro for creating JPEG (01/31/07): Instead of creating a postscript, transferring it to your PC, and converting it to JPEG, you can now directly create the JPEG on our datastations (not available on the workstations connected to instrument). The macro uses the 'convert' command from ImageMagik. Simply login to a datastation in B-8 (South wall) or room 538, load, process, and display the desired plot region. Type plot commands that you desire (e.g. pl pscale pir) and then type page_jpg. This will ask for a filename and create a 360 dpi JPEG with the filename + .jpg extension. It takes about 20 seconds to convert the file. Transfer the file to your PC/Mac using your favorite method.

Reservation System: ORS Reserve has been introduced to replace NMRReserve. The new system strictly enforces the facility's Sign-up Rules. The Chemistry Server, Poohbah, was retired; therefore, the old NMRReserve will retire as well. Reservations for the 600 (Isis), the Solid-State 400 (Nephthys), and the Undergraduate NMR's (Khufu, Maat, and Imseti) have been migrated to the New System. Reservation accounts are based on your MSU NetID. Password and user information will be e-mailed to all users.   NMR Quick Guide: This guide is written to facilitate quick acquision of data for those users who need a little extra help. The guide assumes some very basic knowledge in VNMR.. Get the guide from the handouts page or click here to download.
